There are many sprays currently lining supermarket shelves that claim to refresh your linen and fabric and banish unwanted odours. The sad reality is that while they may do so, they almost certainly do it using harmful chemicals and toxins.
If you are anything like me and you want to keep your house free of chemicals as much as possible and minimise allergic reactions such as wheezing and sneezing, why not make your own?
This simple recipe is very easy to recreate, and you can rest assured that your sofa and your house will smell beautiful without any harmful chemicals around! It’s a win-win really.
(Note: always do a patch test on any fabrics etc before full use.)
You will need:
- 30ml boiling water
- 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 60ml white vinegar
- A few drops of your chosen essential oil
- 10ml clear vodka
Add the bicarbonate of soda and boiling water to a glass spray bottle and wait for it to dissolve. Then slowly add your vinegar bit by bit as the vinegar will fizz and react to bicarbonate of soda. Once all the fizzing has stopped, add your essential oil along with the vodka and mix well.
Shake before use and spritz when needed upon your chosen area!
